Sánchez-Tabernero Sánchez, Alfonso

University of Navarre Chancellor

Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero Sánchez (Salamanca, 1961). Bachelor of Science and PhD in Information Sciences by the University of Navarre, he is a lecturer in Information Business and has directed the Communication Business Management Master's Degree, which is starting this year in Madrid with an executive approach.

He has been a lecturer in Journalistic Information Structure and deputy dean of the Faculty of Social Information Sciences at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. In 2007 he was awarded a Chair. Between 1996 and 2005 he was dean of the Faculty of Communication of the University of Navarre.

He is a PDG by the IESE of the University of Navarre and Visiting Fellow of the European Institute for the Media (Düsseldorf, Germany). He has also been a visiting professor at the University of Manchester (1990-1992) and at the Northwestern University of Chicago (1996). He collaborated with the Institute for Media & Entertainment, a centre of the IESE in New York. He has been President of the European Media Management Education Association (1998-2004).

His research has referred to a variety of aspects related to the strategic management of communication businesses. Author of several books and reports, among his latest publications are "Los contenidos de los medios de comunicación: Calidad, rentabilidad y competencia", 2008, ediciones Deusto, and "Innovación en los medios. La ruta del cambio", 2012, with professor Francisco Javier Pérez-Latre, at the EUNSA publishing house.

From 2005 to 2007 he was the first deputy rector of Institutional Communication at the University of Navarre. He was deputy rector of International Relations from 2007 until August 2012, when he was appointed as rector of the University of Navarre.
