Bartolomé Peral, Edurne

Sociologist-political scientist

Edurne Bartolomé Peral (Bilbao, 1976) holds degrees in Sociology (University of Deusto) and Political and Administrative Sciences (University of the Basque Country). She later gained a PhD in Political Sciences and Sociology from the University of Deusto.

She is a researcher at the University of Deusto, where she teaches in the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, mainly on the International Relations degree programme and at Master and PhD level.

Since 2002 she has worked in the field of political values and attitudes in comparative perspective. She is Programme Director for the European Values Study in Spain and also sits on the research team. She has been a visiting student in the universities of Essex, Michigan and Cologne and a visiting researcher in the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, the Eurolab at the University of Cologne, Jacobs University Bremen in Germany, the University of Michigan and the University of California, Irvine, where she completed her doctoral thesis on political support in Europe in comparative perspective. She has written several national and international papers in this field and is the leading researcher on various competitive research projects in Spain.
