Etxeberria Sagastume, Juan José

Juan José Etxeberria Sagastume, Chancellor of the University of Deusto since May 2023, has a degree in Canon Law from the Institut Catholique de Paris and a PhD in Canon Law from the Gregorian University of Rome.

Professor of the Faculty of Law and Vice Chancellor of the University Community and Agenda 2030 until his appointment as chancellor, he has a long history in management positions: member of the Commission for the Development of the Mission (April 28, 2004); Vice Dean of Students and of Innovation and Quality of the Faculty of Law (2003-2006); member of the Ethics Classroom Commission of the University of Deusto (since 2001); tutor of the University Guidance Service of the Faculty of Law (1st year) (2000-2003); responsible for the CPA (students' permanent commission) of the 1st year of the Faculty of Law (2000-2003); pedagogical coordinator of the Faculty of Law; Vice President of the World Association of Jesuit Faculties and Schools of Law "Francisco Suárez" (2005-2007); Vice Chancellor for Identity and Mission (2007-2008); Chancellor Delegate of the University (2008-2014); President of the San Francisco Javier Foundation (2008-2014); President of the Ellacuría Foundation (2008-2014); President of the Alboan Foundation (2008-2014); president of Euskadiko Erlijiosoen Erakundea-Confer Euskadi (2008-2014); Vice President of FERE-CECA (2008-2014); Vice Chancellor for University Community and Identity and Mission (2015-2017); Vice Chancellor of the University Community (2018-2020); Vice Chancellor of the University Community and the 2030 Agenda (2020-2023); and Superior of the Community of the University of Deusto (2021-).
